Why I Choose To Ignore What Other Industry Leaders Are Doing
Sound counterintuitive?
I’m not about settling for the same old-same old.
And I never want to convoluted my messaging or sound like anyone else, so I stopped following other thought leaders in my industry years ago.
I decided that I didn’t want to fall prey to speaking the same “language.”
If you’re so consumed with watching what others are doing or saying in your industry, you will have difficulty stretching yourself creatively.
In other words, you will start mimicking your competition.
So it’s one thing to be inundated with the movement of others, and it’s another thing to keep your eyes open so that you can see the gaps and opportunities in your industry.
YET…..
I do keep your 👀 open and observe what’s happening,
by employing research-intelligence, which equips me to build something DIFFERENT.
Research-Intelligence does NOT mean to
❌copy
❌ mimic
❌ moan about
❌ put down
❌compare or judge yourself
However, it does mean to SEE the wholes or gaps in the market and determine a viable solution for addressing them.
It will position you to leverage what’s expected, typical, popular in your area of expertise and shake that up using your creative twist. Remember, great story-tellers, aka speakers, are known for creating conflict and twisting the plots :).
Do you SEE how this will catapult you way beyond
flatlining with “status quo success (and being bored doing what everyone else does)
That’s what all the *best (& happiest) artists do!
*Those singular people out there developing things that others find interesting, intriguing, insightful, or inciting
